Why did you opt for CPA over other accounting courses?
My internship with EY sparked the interest in me to pursue CPA based on the kind of engagements I worked on and the global recognition this course had compared to any other.
Once you took up the course, what was your initial strategy?
As I was new to the course and had no much idea of the kind of planning required, I followed the strategy set forth by Miles and trusted their expertise.
How many months did you take to clear all 4 exams? Any hiccups in between?
I took close to 18months to clear the exams. The only hiccup I faced during this was balancing my work at Deloitte along with preparation. I overcame this barrier by setting a time table for myself and sticking to it.
Which among the 4 subjects, did you find the toughest? Any topics in particular.
REG was a challenging subject for me as it was not something that I had studied previously unlike the other subjects which I had come across during my time as a CA student.
What was your strategy for Simulations and WCTs?
The only thought I had during my preparation was to make sure not to skip any question be it simulations, WCTs, or MCQs. I made sure to go over each and every question at least once.
Tips or pointers for aspiring CPAs?
One needs to understand the source or reasoning behind every concept, topic, or act. It makes applying the same logic to other questions much easier.
Who has been the support system in your CPA journey?
I would like to mention Ms.Vasudha who was the student relations manager during my time with Miles. She was a constant source of support, always ready to help out with any queries or difficulties I faced, and kept checking in frequently to make sure I was on track with my preparation.
