Within 8 months of starting her MAcc journey, she secured a job in a leading US accounting firm. This star alumna believes success is a combination of hard work and an optimistic attitude.
Discovered Miles MAcc Program
Pooja initially intended to pursue her US CPA with Miles, aiming for job opportunities in Canada, given the recognition US CPA holds in both countries. However, her plans took an unexpected turn when her friends chimed in with the comment, ‘Tera Miles Kuch toh kar raha hai America ke sath.’ It was this remark that led her to discover Miles’ MAcc program, a remarkable opportunity. This unique initiative promised to take Indian accountants to the USA, provide training at prestigious US universities, and ensure a three-year work opportunity in the country. The offer seemed too good to be true, but Pooja found hope in the possibility of making significant strides within those three years, securing a promising foundation for her lifelong career.
Accounting Journey at Weatherhead School of Management (Case Western Reserve University)
Despite initial skepticism, her swift visa approval marked the beginning of her American dream. In the vibrant atmosphere of Weatherhead School of Management, Pooja’s days were filled with weekly assignments, homework, and engaging presentations. The experience offered invaluable exposure, fostering her personal and professional development. Despite her initial reserve, she evolved significantly, gaining confidence through interactions with diverse international peers. This journey became a catalyst for substantial personality development, showcasing her ability to adapt and thrive in a global environment. Miles’ MAcc program helped her to reach the pinnacle of her accounting career.
Pooja’s Hard Work Pays Off: A Rewarding Accounting Career in the USA
In just eight months, she secured a coveted position in a leading US accounting firm, even managing part-time work while studying. Transitioning from CA, she delved into audit roles, impressing interviewers with her forensic auditing knowledge. Her experience revealed the softer side of interviews in the US, focusing more on behavioral fit than technical prowess. Now thriving in Washington DC, she advises her fellow accountants: don’t rush, opportunities abound, and the demand for accountants, especially in specialized fields like fraud auditing, is ever-growing. The key, she says, is to remain open to possibilities, as the accounting industry is recession-proof, and success often comes unexpectedly.
